VIGLINK REVIEW: MAKE MONEY WITH NON-MONETIZED BLOG LINKS

here are many in-text advertising networks on the market, and most of them fall dramatically short in terms of payout. Today I am going to share my review of VigLink, which is another Affiliate network, but with a very interesting twist!

If you have read my monthly income reports, you know that most of my income comes from affiliate marketing.

For this reason I am constantly trying out new affiliate networks that sound promising. I recently heard about VigLink, and it sounded interesting toward the purpose of further blog monetization, so I tried it for a two-week period on one of my blogs.

Before we move forward with my review based on my two-week experience, let me offer a little background on affiliate marketing for new bloggers who may be reading this article.

In affiliate marketing, we recommend products to our readers, and if they decide to buy the product using the unique affiliate URL we provide, then we get a referral income from the purchase. The money that we make from this type of affiliate referral is more than what we can make from AdSense clicks.

VigLink – content monetization made easy with affiliates:
VigLink is one of the best ways to make money from blogging. VigLink works in a very different way than other blog monetization programs.

VigLink converts your normal outgoing links into affiliate links, and if users make a purchase, you earn a referral commission from it.  The best part is that you don’t need to be signed up for an individual affiliate account on all networks. Viglink tracking takes care of all of them!

For example, if you have a tech blog and you write about iPhone and iPad apps, VigLink will automatically convert those outbound links into affiliate links.

When you would typically make no money for such links, with Viglink you will be earning money whenever somebody buys a paid app from the app store.

VigLink automatically monetizes all outbound links, allowing you to make a handsome income from them. I will share my VigLink income report after this review.

All of this is done with the help of Javascript, so it’s SEO friendly and it works with AdSense as well.

Learn How Google Handles Affiliate Links
In a normal scenario, you are linking to product pages on many sites, and you don’t make any money when people buy or download the product. VigLink is an easy way to monetizing these links.

It is also important to  note that if you are already using affiliate links on your website, VigLink does not change those links.

Setting up VigLink is easy, and all you need to do is add a line of code to your site source, and VigLink will take care of the rest.

You can learn more about the details on their demo page.

When I started using VigLink, I had two major questions and concerns, so I contacted David Gorcey, a member of the VigLink team, who answered my questions in detail. Bear in mind that this interaction happened back in March of 2012.

Question: Sometimes my Viglink dashboard shows clicks, but I see no revenue (or vice-versa):

David: This is because in some cases merchants don’t report revenue until the day an item ships, rather than the day it was purchased. So what you are seeing is that the revenue for some transactions isn’t accruing to your account until a few days later as these items were probably back ordered.

As such, even though you had already removed the tags at the beginning of February, some items users had purchased in January had not yet shipped and therefore the revenue didn’t show up in your account until later. Hopefully that makes sense, but let me know if you’d like further explanation.

Question: Are publishers accepted to all merchants, or do some merchants have a whitelist?

David: It is true that some merchants have a whitelist, and that means that we need to add a publisher to their program manually before they will allow affiliation of clicks to them. There are only a handful of merchants we work with that have this type of setup, and most are in the fashion vertical. So overall, you don’t need to be accepted to merchant programs through us, except in a few cases.

The main take-away is that you will be covered for pretty much any merchant we have that you link to, as I don’t think your content really applies to the merchants with whitelists, however, I’d be happy to look and make sure we try to add you to them if it turns out that you send clicks there.

FAQ and pros and cons of VigLink:
Viglink Income proof
I’m not going to go into a lot more detail here, except to say that my experience with VigLink has been great, and I have had no issues with payment to date. They pay by PayPal, and to date I have received all of the payments on time.

With regard to revenue split, VigLink keeps 25% of the commission, and 75% goes into our pockets, which is not bad considering the fact that we are making money from links which were previously non-monetized.

Let’s have a brief look at some of the pros and cons of the VigLink program:

Pros:

It’s SEO friendly
Smart way to make money from website
Hassle-free set-up (offers plugin too)
Payment on time via PayPal
You can control how linking will happen
More money than in-text ads
Supports multiple platforms (blogs, forums)
Doesn’t violate AdSense policies
Cons:

Nothing major!

VigLink Link Wrapping Tool
There are many affiliate programs in which you can’t be a direct partner. For example, not everyone can be an affiliate partner with Apple app store, but with viglink you can easily monetize all app store link with one link of code. Now, how about you are sharing a direct link to app store product on your fan page or Twitter stream, and that’s where this viglink link wrapper tool comes into the picture.

This affiliate link wrapper tool, will let you create an affiliated link or you can also shortened your affiliated link with bit.ly directly. Here is a screenshot of how Vig link affiliate wrapper tool works:

Personally, I feel this tool is very useful for a Blogger and internet marketer to add another monetization scheme to their blog. If you use any URL shortener to add a dime to your earning, instead of that this affiliate link wrapper tool will boost your earning.

You need to login to your Viglink dashboard > Click on tools > Link Wrapper Tool and enter the URL for which you need to get an affiliated link. You can take advantage of this tool to find if any particular merchant is a part of Viglink program or not.

I hope VigLink review has helped you to find one more network that is useful for making money from your blog. If you have used this network before, please feel free to share your feedback and review in the comments section below.

If you find this post useful, do share it with your friends and colleagues on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn.
